Complaint Process

Overview of the Human Rights Complaint Process. First step communicates that people should contact us or file a human rights form after they have experienced unfair treatment. Second step demonstrates how we apply the Human Rights Act to complaints to see if we can help. In the third step, we try voluntary mediation to resolve the complaint. If the complaint is not resolved, we move on to step 4 which is an investigation. This step takes time. Step five communicates the Human Rights Commissioners role in the decision-making process. The sixth and final step outlines how an Adjudicator decides if discrimination happened or not.
